The Environmental Compendium Association
Protecting Nature. Empowering Communities. Building a Sustainable Cameroon.
The Environmental Compendium Association is committed to protecting Cameroon’s natural environment, supporting climate action, conserving biodiversity, and empowering communities to build a more sustainable and resilient future.
Cameroon is home to some of Africa’s most important forests, wildlife, rivers, wetlands, coastal ecosystems, and biodiversity. These natural resources are essential to the livelihoods and well-being of millions of people. However, climate change, pollution, deforestation, habitat loss, unsustainable resource use, and poor waste management continue to place increasing pressure on these ecosystems.
Our work focuses on practical environmental conservation and community-based solutions that protect nature while creating opportunities for people.
We work with communities, volunteers, young people, environmental professionals, institutions, NGOs, development partners, and other stakeholders to advance environmental conservation in Cameroon
01
Our Environmental Conservation Work
Our programs address some of Cameroon’s most pressing environmental challenges through community participation, environmental education, conservation initiatives, and climate action.
Biodiversity Conservation
Cameroon has exceptional biodiversity, including forests, wildlife, plants, rivers, wetlands, and coastal ecosystems. We support initiatives that promote biodiversity conservation in Cameroon, protect natural habitats, and encourage responsible use of natural resources.
Climate Change and Climate Action
Climate change affects communities, agriculture, water resources, ecosystems, livelihoods, and economic development.
Our climate change projects in Cameroon focus on climate awareness, environmental education, community resilience, ecosystem protection, restoration, and practical solutions that help communities respond to changing environmental conditions.
Climate Justice
We champion climate justice in Cameroon by bridging law, community, and advocacy. We pursue strategic public interest litigation to enforce the constitutional right to a healthy environment against defestation, pollution, and land-grabbing.
We also provide legal aid and representation to forest-dependent and coastal communities most affected by climate change. Through legal empowerment, it trains paralegals, youth and CSOs on locus standi, environmental rights, and climate litigation.
We document environmental violations, build evidence for courts, and engage in policy advocacy to strengthen environmental governance and hold state and corporate actors accountable for climate obligations.
CO2 Justice
We promotes carbon justice by demanding that historic polluters pay for local climate impacts and that climate finance reaches frontline communities.
On litigation, we support farmers and flood victims to file cases on Environmental law, invoking the right to a healthy environment and polluter-pays principle.
We partner with COSUMAF, MINFOF, and local councils to push for REDD+ payments directly to forest communities and challenges carbon colonialism in carbon markets.
Through radio, town-halls in Pidgin/French/English, and legal aid clinics, TECA turns carbon justice from UN talk into local action.
